Two cyberattacks have hit the labour party in the last 24 hours. The “sophisticated and large scale” attacks have attempted and succeeded in disrupting the parties digital systems.
Denial Of Service Attack (DDOS) Cyberattacks
The cyberattack used was a DDOS attack. A denial-of-service attack (DoS attack) is a cyber-attack where an attacker seeks to make a computer or network unavailable by indefinitely or temporarily disrupting services connected to the internet. Essentially A DDOS makes a computer or network inaccessible for its users by launching from several host machines in a coordinated attack which can lead to a software crash.
Robust Security Systems.
The Labour party is reporting that the cybersecurity they have in place is enough to ensure there was no data breach. A party spokeswoman said: “We have experienced a sophisticated and large-scale cyber-attack on Labour digital platforms. We took swift action, and these attempts failed due to our robust security systems. The integrity of all our platforms was maintained, and we are confident that no data breach occurred.
However, there has been disruption across the parties digital platforms which is usually how a DDOS attack is deemed to be a “success.” DDOS attacks can also mask
