West Midlands Growth’s main objective was to provide a robust and scalable environment. We are supporting 70 users and associated data requirements to enhance the end-user experience. We successfully executed all designs, plans and implementation including licensing for Windows 10 and Windows Server 2016.
Allteks support West Midlands Growth infrastructure using new generation server processor technology. The chosen solution was VMware, and our approach to achieving this was as follows:
- We underwent a detailed discovery exercise – assessing the current state of the estate against future requirements.
- We developed a detailed solution design – underpinning the technologies, processes and interacting systems – with buy-in from the key stakeholders.
- We developed a deployment plan – considering all aspects of the initiation and implementation of the above solution.
- We created configuration instructions for a Software-Defined Data Centre (SDDC) for use in a business as usual stage.
To achieve this level of infrastructure, we established 9 ESXi hosts split across two separated datacabs, with a replication zone in a separate data centre. We added resilience to this environment with a mixture of Veeam and Acronis Cloud backup solutions.
The data networking infrastructure of the client’s environment was supported with Dell and Unify switches with a 10GB backbone, providing speed and redundancy throughout the solution. We used Dell Storage PS4210 a High Availability pair of Dell Networking N2024, and a Dell Storage PS4100 with an HA Pair of Dell Networking N3024 with 10GBE links, to provide storage.
We put a training program in place to ensure that all technical staff in-house had the knowledge to undertake emergency works when required.
Allteks senior engineers visited the client’s location and carried out a comprehensive training package, including server and software monitoring, hardware maintenance and infrastructure deployment.
The development and implementation of the full infrastructure and software integration was achieved within a strict time deadline with all components, training, management and monitoring in place and reviewed as per the initial implementation plan.
As part of Allteks transition and onboarding service, we assigned an Account Manager and a team of experienced professionals to the account.
